This Privacy Policy explains how Kanishk Gupta, trading as "NumProof" ("we", "us"), collects and uses personal data when you use the NumProof software, website and services. We are committed to handling your data responsibly and in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

In short: we collect the minimum needed to run your licence, take payment and support you. We do not upload or read the contents of your documents, and we do not track the figures, tables or documents you work with.

1. Data we collect

Information you provide

Account details — your name, email address and phone number, provided when you start a trial or subscribe.
Support messages — anything you send us through the contact form or by email.

Information collected automatically

Licence & device data — a one-way hashed machine fingerprint (derived from your Windows machine identifier) used to bind a licence to a device and prevent misuse. We do not receive the raw identifier.
Approximate location — derived from your IP address (city / region / country) and a hashed form of the IP, used for licence security (e.g. detecting unusual access). We do not store your raw IP address as a plain identifier.
Account identifier & licence status — the short account ID on your install and its subscription/trial state.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Razorpay. We do not collect or store your card, UPI or bank details — these are handled by Razorpay under their own privacy terms. We receive only confirmation of payment and subscription status.

2. What we do not collect

We do not upload the contents of your PDFs or workbooks, and we do not record which figures, tables or documents you snip. Your documents stay on your computer.

3. How we use your data

To provide and maintain your licence, trial and subscription.
To take payment and manage seats through our payment partner.
To secure the Service and prevent licence abuse (machine binding, transfer limits, unusual-access checks).
To send service and billing communications (e.g. trial-ending reminders, receipts).
To respond to your support requests.

4. Legal basis

We process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the licensed Service), for our legitimate interest in securing the Service and preventing abuse, to comply with legal obligations, and — where required — on the basis of your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.

5. Sharing & processors

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers who process it on our behalf:

Cloudflare — hosting of our website and licensing backend (Workers, D1 database, KV).
Razorpay — payment and subscription processing.
Brevo — sending transactional emails (verification codes, reminders, receipts).

We may also disclose data where required by law.

6. Retention

We keep account, licence and billing records for as long as your account is active and thereafter as needed to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations. Support messages are kept as needed to handle and reference your query.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including hashing of device and IP identifiers, encrypted transport (HTTPS), and access controls on our backend. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or erasure of your personal data, and you may withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us at getnumproof@gmail.com. You also have the right to nominate and to raise a grievance as described below.

10. Children

The Service is intended for business/professional use and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
